Shaan: Indian playback singer
Full Name: Shantanu Mukherjee
Date of Birth: 30 September 1972
Father: Manas Mukherjee (Music director)
Sister: Sagarika Mukherjee (Singer)
Wife: Radhika Jolly (two sons: Soham, Shubh)
Shaan born in a Bengali musical family on September 30, 1972. His father Manas Mukherjee was a music director. Also he is younger brother of singer Sagarika. Shaan also is the grandson of Jahar Mukherjee. The man who started his singing career with cover versions and remixes is now one of the lead singers present in Bollywood.

As a child Shaan never had dreamt or had an ambition to become a singer. Shaan defines its his destiny which pushed him towards it. Like many other singers, Shaan's singing journey also started by singing ad jingles. Shaan later came up with remix albums and cover versions. He also teamed up with sister Sagarika for the pop albums during his early career.

Shaan first came up with remix song 'Q - Funk' in 1995. He teamed up with the pop-guru Biddu for remixes. Biddu gave him a name Shaan. A long haired, funky singer was loved by the audiences. But he got recognized with the remix version of R D Burman's hit 'Roop Tera Mastana'. In 1996 he came up with Naujawan along with sister Sagarika. The same year he also came up with the solo album Love-o-logy. The album didn't received the similar success like the previous ones.

His real success came with the album called 'Tanha Dil' in 2000. It's title track quickly climbed the charts. It was remained for long time on radio. Shaan also had written lyrics for the album. For this album Shaan won the MTV Music Awards Asia as Best Solo Album.

After three years Shaan released his next album called Aksar. The album was again a success. The album featured international stars like Mel C., Samira Said and Blue.

With the success of his solo albums, Shaan soon received offers for playback singing from Bollywood. His first song in Hindi films was 'Musu Musuhasi' from the film Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. Followed by it Shaan received may offers from the established, bid music directors like A R Rahman and Anu Malik.

Since then he has successfully lent his voice for films like Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, Lakshya, Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste, Dhoom, Dus, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Fanna, Don, and Saawariya. Shaan won several awards including Filmfare Award for the song Chand Sifarish from film Fanaa (2006).

Along with playback singing, Shaan also is busy with his solo albums and stage shows. Shaan travelled North America, Singapore, Netherlands, Fiji and Australia along with other singers. He is also the first choice for Pro Shows at big colleges for cultural festivals. Shaan performed live for fests like Mood Indigo of IIT Bombay, Raagam of NIT Calicut and Spring Fest of IIT Kharagpur.

Shaan also made special appearences in films like Hungama and Zameen. In those movies he appeared in the videos of songs which he had sung. He also appeared as the guest along with wife Raadhika for the TV show Antakshari: The Great Challenge. During early career Shaan acted a brief role in Kalpana Lajmi film รข€“ Daman.

Shaan hosted the prestigeous talent TV show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' on Zee TV. Currently he is hosting another popular singing talent show Amul Star Voice Of India (2007) on Star Plus.
